OolaGuru

Co-Author of "Oola: Find Balance in an Unbalanced World." Why listen to the OolaGuru? Need some street cred? Believe in "show me, don't tell me?" Some highlights:
OolaFitness: Ironman
OolaFinance: Completely debt and financially free by age 40
OolaFamily: Married 20+ years to his kindergarten classmate, 4 beautiful kids
OolaField: Formally retired at age 42. Now does only what he wants only when he wants to be
OolaFaith: Yet not the man he wants to be, but grateful he is not the man he used to be
OolaFriends: Let's just say he is networked
OolaFun: Travel is his passion. 53 countries and counting . . .

The OolaSeeker lovingly gives me a lot of crap about my lifestyle.  More specifically the material successes of my life. He highlights the cars, homes, early retirement, and travel. While it can be interesting to talk about a Maserati, a beach home, or exotic travel, he tends to leave out the bulk of the story. He rarely talks about my first Pinto, or my second Pinto (after the first one caught fire), or my Cavalier. I have never heard him mentioned my wife and I lived in a basement apartment of a vacant home for free to save for a down payment. Or that early in our marriage our family vacation consisted of staying in my parents rented cabin on a lake for a week because we couldn’t afford to rent our own.

The reality is that my financial success isn’t exciting. I didn’t sign a big contract, get gifted millions from a Sheikh, invent Twitter, or become a Trust Fund recipient. I simply followed seven very simple principles and persisted with these principles against a culture that began to embrace debt and immediate gratification as a normal way of life.
